MAP Forum 2020 Annual Spring Meeting

The Metropolitan Area Planning (MAP) Forum, a consortium of ten metropolitan planning organizations and councils of governments from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, held its Annual Spring Meeting virtually on June 19, 2020.

This year’s meeting led off with an update from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) on MAP Forum activities during the public health emergency. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) also presented on how the supply chain has been impacted by COVID-19 highlighting freight challenges and initiatives, government response, and emerging trends.

The Capitol Region Council of Governments presented an overview on the success of the CTfastrak BRT service and shared an update on a pilot program to test three electric-powered autonomous buses between New Britain and Hartford. Greater Bridgeport Transit (GBT) shared an overview of GBT’s planning and response to COVID-19 as well as an update on the rollout of GBT’s Zero Emissions bus project.

NJTPA presented a demonstration of their central content management system as well as a summary of the results from the multi-state truck rest area survey. NYMTC gave a brief update on its multi-state transportation forecasting work.
