Western Connecticut Economic Development District (WCEDD)

The Western Connecticut Economic Development District (WCEDD) is responsible for guiding the region’s long-term economic strategy through the Economic Plan – WestCOG’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS is a federally recognized five-year plan that identifies the region’s economic strengths, challenges, and opportunities, and lays out a roadmap for growth that is resilient, inclusive, and sustainable.

As the manager of the CEDS process, WCEDD brings together municipal leaders, businesses, educational institutions, and community stakeholders to ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of Western Connecticut. Every five years, the WCEDD leads a collaborative process of research, engagement, and strategy development, resulting in a plan that positions the region to compete for federal funding and private investment.

Through this process, WCEDD helps align local initiatives with regional goals, making sure Western Connecticut is prepared to adapt to changing economic conditions and seize new opportunities for prosperity.
